ACLS Course Description:

The AHA’s ACLS Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care.

This classroom, video-based (not on line edu cation), Instructor-led course builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS for Healthcare Providers skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. The ACLS Certification Course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac arrest care. ACLS also covers airway management and related pharmacology.

While BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR certification is not mandatory, the skills and knowledge of CPR Training, basic rhythm recognition (ECG’s) and pharmacology are required for success.

ACLS Course Expectations:

  • Pass the CPR AED skills test, bag-mask ventilation skills test and the Megacode test.
  • In the ACLS Course, skills are taught in large-group sessions and small-group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented. Must actively participate in, practice and complete all learning stations.
  • Complete the closed-book written ACLS Test with a minimum score of 84%
  • Pass 2 ACLS core case scenarios (1 cardiac and 1 peri-arrest scenario) as a team leader.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) initial or renewal training courses can be taken at either of our two locations serving the Sacramento and Roseville areas. These advanced classes are offered frequently to meet the needs of our students, and if we don’t have a class time available to meet your schedule we also offer the American Heart Associations e-Learning (on-Line training courses) which allow you to gain initial certification, or renewal certification at your convenience by taking the class at home then coming in for skills evaluation.
